Sluggish Mondays

This is our theme now. I was jealous of every bodies theme's, like Because She Does Thursday's, or Awkward Thursdays, or Funny Sundays. So I made Sluggish Mondays. We can all say that we have had a bad Monday. There are a lot of reason's why people hate Mondays. One reason is that we don't want to go to school or work, second is we love sleeping in, third is that bad things just happen on Monday's. From the past I've had to run all period, I usually have test on Monday's, and it is the beginning of a new subject in class. But today I woke up with a soar throat and a headache.

I thought, "I hate Monday's."

Weird trees

Well, all you guys have probably already heard about our Fruit trees that you thought didn't grow in Utah. Actually they do. We got 2 exotic fruit trees, one is a banana tree (with red bananas) and the other is a orange tree (with yellow oranges). We got them at Glover's Nursery, and I was way excited. I had talked to mom about getting a banana tree, orange tree, and a kiwi tree. I hadn't once thought that they actually sold them in stores. I looked up into the heavens and sang Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Hopefully they actually grow into something. We also got ourselves pairs of grapes and raspberries plants (finally). Next year I will be in heaven, because we are going to have all kind of fruits and veggies. I also want to brag about my melon's, we actually got full sized melons. I started them in July. I grew from seed 3 big cantaloupe (hold your applause), and one 8 pounded Watermelon (OK now you can clap). They were Delicious, you guys in Texas and Kentucky missed out.(by the way we already ate 2/3 of the watermelon that's why it looks small)

Deals to Meals meal.

Deals to Meals is quite a spectacular blog- Shandra is great and I just recently signed up for her program and I think its great. She is also doing a sun over giveaway! Hence me talking about her blog and how much i really do love it. I check it all the time for recipes and ways to use my food storage items to make meals.

So right now we are up to our ears in zucchini and while I was looking around on her blog, I found this amazing recipe: Chocolate Zucchini bread- (who doesn't want chocolate with their zucchini?) and decided to try it out.

So you can be proud of me at this moment because I practiced my food storing skills.

I whipped out my wheat that I've had stored away (that I've had for years and never opened...)

and after about 2 hours of trying to pry off the dang lid, and finding out later that there is a tool to open bucket lids... I was good to go.

I then pulled out my hand grinder, that i've also opened for the first time in years.

and after an half an hour of turning the wretched crank, my arms where happy we had got enough ground wheat to bake the bread.

Then for the main course for dinner, we tried Shandra's Tortilla White Bean Soup.

It is made quite easily with food storage items and it is a soup that will get your taste buds a'dancin.

Basically I've loved knowing about Shandra's blog, I have got so many ideas for recipes and grocery saving techniques. If anything you should take a look at her blog and see all the yummy recipes she comes up with.

Farewell to bounciness

I would like to say a few words. That trampoline has been through so much. It's been through fire crackers exploding on it, 11 people sitting on it, people heads getting stuck in the bars, wet summer days, and its bar have made some peoples teeth almost fall out. It has laughed at those we fall off, or try to jump on a ball and miss. We've had that tramp for about 14 years, that is a long life for a tramp. Farewell to bounciness. Anyway, the way he died was because of Lexi's friends at the party. I'm just kidding it wasn't there fault, I just like to say it's there fault. The party was fun especially for the people inside. We just starred at the party, through the window. People probably thought we were weird. Lexi had a blast at the party. The boys played basketball while the girls talked. They also played fugitive in the neighborhood. And the presents. Well lets just say some people don't know Lexi that well, because she mostly got candy which she can't eat. But I don't care more for me. Jaedyn wanted to be a fighter one day, so she got my sword and started chasing the chickens around. She yelled at them, "Die, Die." I think these toys made her start being a fighter. But that phase didn't last long pretty soon she was back to being a princess.

Mama Kana's Birthday

Well, as much of you know our dear family from Texas surprised us by coming to our house a week early. (except McKay) Robbie also is staying with us and it is fun to get to know him. This week was fun and marvelous. With Jaedyn speaking and all, it makes the visit even better. She is such a polite and fun child always saying please and thank you. She was much more fun than last time she came to Utah. Her and I go play outside in the "jungle" every day. She loves the chickens and the fish. Makana and Jaedyn loved the cool morning air. Jaedyn always says surprised, "It's cold?" Swimming is great when it is hot, so we decided to go to the Osmond's and swim. Daxton has grown up so much, and the person he started to love was his grandma. He never wants to leave her. I wouldn't blame him, because she is a grandma who spoils. This week we have watched a lot of movies. Like Spider Man, Soul Surfer, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. We have also watched our share of Princess movies, because Jaedyn likes to watch them every day. Good thing I had the Texans around or I would be bored out of my mind (with no friends and all.) Fishing is a great thing, fishing with buckets is even better. I have almost caught frogs and snakes at the ponds. My best catch I got was a fish about 3 inches big. I think I will call him Dopey. Every time I walk over and stoop over the ponds, he decides to jump out on to the ground and flop around. Yes, he is a strange fish.But the best part of the week was celebrating Makana's Birthday. We gave her breakfast in bed, and for lunch we surprised her by going to a lunch with her friends. We also got to have a nice dinner out in the back yard, it was all vegetables. Dad might have not liked it, but Makana loved it. It is to bad that I wasn't a writer of blogs when the Kentuckians were here. I could have made more blogs about them and the Sweet Ms. Lydia.

Chickens and beautiful gardens

So we haven't shown you some pictures of our chickens for a couple months. They have gotten big, annoying, and very picky. Not to mention they poop all over our stairs. Dixie is one of the most annoying, we get at least 20 visits from her a day at the window. I think she's thinking, "Please sir, I want some more." I personally have gotten sick of her so I throw her off if I ever see her on the steps. But with out fail she comes back again in 2 seconds, even though her food bowl is all the way full. Now if she's on the steps I look at her and she runs away scared. I love it. But one benefit they have given us in this past month is eggs. Yes, I said it eggs. We have finally gotten those wonderful, large, blue eggs. Well not quite. They are small, and a brownish color. We got ripped off. We won the Jackpot though, Dixie laid a twin egg. I bet you've never seen one of those before.

So have you seen my marvelous garden, it was grown by me. I grew them by seed and now the corn is as tall as my nose. An my tomatoes are huge. Go me! Yes I know I am such a bragger. So next time you want your garden huge call Mr. Green Thumb over here. And we didn't start planting till Jul y. OH NO! MY HAIR IS GONE!

Justin Beiber?

So here are the pictures of Parks I promised. And a disclaimer. Parks wasn't trying to grow out his hair to look like Justin. I just didn't fit it into my schedule to cut his hair whenever he asked. Then last week I was looking at him and thought.... he's looking a little like Beiber so I better cut his hair. Although thankfully his hair didn't ever get near as long to have it be a good look-alike.

I've decided that there is no more beautiful place in all the world then in the mountains here in Utah. Living through the snow is worth the wait. It was just breathtaking looking up at the mountainside.

Lexi and Parker were the only brave ones who went under the waterfall and froze the rest of the day.

I need to get a close up of Parks on the next blog because we decided he looks like Justin Beiber with his long hair. What a stud.

I got a picture of my black and white butterfly that followed me around and captured some fall leaves in the middle of summer. These were the only fall leaves in a mountainside of green Pretty cool.

You can't tell by the pictures but it was very cloudy and then started to rain. But it didn't stop some of the clan from swimming. They had the pool to themselves so that was one plus.

We couldn't not have our now annual family picture with pea pods on the ears and nose.

Lex kind of felt bad that only Parker remembered her birthday yesterday out of all her siblings but we know you are all pretty busy. We grabbed her before she could even change from playing tennis and started the celebration.

He went all out.

First.... A piece of strawberry pie he made from scratch with just a little sugar so she could have a dessert (it was to die for yummy) It had a clue on the bottom of the plate.

2nd - a treasure hunt. He spent a morning last week making up about 15 clues that took her through the house and in the yard. Here is a sampling of one of his creative clues. Ultimate! U is for my ultimate sister, because she's so good at everything. Go and see where you got your skills, at the room of loud snores.

3rd- The clues were all found and on each clue was a different letter. Unscramble the letters to find out what her gift would be. She went crazy when she realized the word was .....Super Smash Brothers!

4th Now wheres the gift? More unscrambling of a sentence on the back of the clues. It was in the HUGE willow tree. It took her awhile to find.
How's that for a kind brother. A homemade pie, treasure hunt and the ultimate gift- super smash brothers.

****j/k of course about her birthday being yesterday but he was so excited to give her his gift that we did it early. Yes 2 months early.

For a whole month the Kentuckians were in Utah. It went by fast. Maybe because they were down in Provo so JD could work and we only got them on the weekend. But at least we had that time.

Both Kels, JD and Daxton celebrated their Birthdays this month. We celbrated Father's Day and celebrated Parker getting his Eagle.

We went to a South J

ordan parade. We watched Lex play in 2 tournaments. One at BYU and another for So. Jordan.

They got to fly to Vegas with Shelby and Brandon while we stayed home and cleaned up poop for 5 hours..... well maybe 4 if you push it. Ahh... it's so fun being grandparents. Actually it is just not that part.

I haven't received more pictures from Tan since the MTC except the one picture with the chicken. (I realized I should have put these on the blog for all to enjoy. Sorry the lighting was bad when I took a picture of the picture. You can see he is always the happiest and most dramatic.

He sent the picture of the chicken to make fun of us for sending pictures of our chickens, He saw someone with chicks and ran over and asked if he could take pictures with them.)

What a wonderful and spiritual Day it has been. The family gathered at the Oquirrah Mountain Temple today to do the baptism, confirmation, initiatory and endowment for Jimmy Jr. The picture doesn't show all the people who were there since some had to leave after the baptism. It's too sacred to write about on the blog so you'll have to call me to find out the details of the day.

Amy started the process because of a dream she had with Jimmy Jr. Then Todd stood in place of Jimmy throughout the day.

Again I can't say it enough but it was wonderful tear jerking day.

I happened to glance out my bedroom window when Parks was mowing and saw him zigzagging around with the lawnmower. Then I realized what he was doing and ran down to get a picture. It made me laugh out loud. He doesn't like to do things in the normal fashion. Dad was a little... ok a lot mad but Park definitely thinks outside the box.

Spring Break to Texas

Another trip to Texas A Spring break delight
but 60mph winds almost kept that dream from our sights
Delicious enchiladas awaited our arrival however
as well as kinect and beautiful spring weather

A trip to the beach waves were crashing that day
But would an overcast day crush Lexi's goal for a tan as she played?
No worries we swam, sunbathed and baked in the sun
but too Parker's horror upon our arrival home from the fun
He'd turned into the biggest red lobster he hopes it will fade
A night of ticket to ride and Rupenzel while grandma snuggled with Jaed

Playing tennis, with home court advantage Mckay won
Swimming while trying to hide from the sun
A light display, pizza, football and running up and down hills
A light car only Mckay wanted to see for the thrill
"I want to see the light car right now"not letting us say no
He stomped right over took a glance and said Ok, now we can go"

Easter morning we found baskets outside our bedroom doors that
were filled with candy, bracelets and even a Texas Longhorn hat.
Mckay sang with the choir a spiratual feast.
Then and added treat to hear him of the Savior teach.
How blessed and how lucky their ward is to have them
Dinner with kind family and friends and to see the temple

Another delicious omelet and yummy fruit, we were off to see Mckay at work.
Oh wait, another bath for Jaedyn...yea, her potty skills she has shirked
Next stop the airport, the time went by too fast I cannot lie
But Jaedyn a delight all weekend decided to show us her other side
poor Terrance was spit on not once or twice
try 50 times at least no matter the threat to be nice.

Ahh the weather was perfect and the people even better
Goodby Lucky, Terrance and Grandma Princess Jaedyn cried and wailed
(she was tired but we pretended she really did care)

Conference weekend reminds me to change our water and to change food in the 72 hr kits. Lex, Parks and I had fun doing it. I'm glad I saved the rain coats from Niagra Falls. They're not heavy but prevent water from drenching you. There are so many things you can get at all a dollar now that can go in your kit. For instance a package of 8 small kleenex packages. Yes 8 just for a dollar. I put them in the kids bags for toilet paper. Hey you never know if your going to have a place to go let alone the tp.

I love love love ruffles and my scripture bag was well not very pretty ok it was ugly so I found this shirt that no one wanted and made my bag. Then the hood of the shirt I took off and made a reversible bag. The only thing I did was sew up one side and make the flower. I do need to make handles. I knew there was a reason I kept that shirt that Daniel made Cassidy put in the DI pile because no wife of his would ever wear something with such far out colors. J/K of course Daniel would never say something like that he is much too nice but he did tell her to give it up.Also.,..

So I saw Shelby's flower necklace at her house a few weeks ago and then saw the one Elizabeth won and decided to try my hand at it but was waiting for Shelby to post so I could copy. Yea I'm good at that. Wish I was good at inventing but my brain never does that. Of course there were too many fun colors to choose from in my scrap of fabrics so I made 3 actually 4 I made one like Elizabeths just need to find the red beads.Thanks Shelby

I went to lunch yesterday with my brothers and sisters for my mom's birthday. I told them about Tanners laughing attack while on the stand at a meeting for all the missionaries at the MTC. A man fell over on his chair and Tanner thought it was because he fell asleep.(The chair actually fell into a crack.) He couldn't stop laughing the rest of the meeting no matter how hard he tried. He would stop for a minute only to have a loud laugh burst out of him a few minutes later. That begin a laughing story telling session with my siblings.
......... Larry told about going to a ward conference when he was a counselor in the stake presidency and Kyle his son was passing the sacrament. Kyle's feet were huge at that time almost the size they'd end up being when he reached his 6' 6 size although at the time he was still a short 12 year old. Kyle passed the sacrament to those on the stand. The stake president noticing these HUGE shoes leaned over to Larry and said I hope he doesn't trip over those things. That started the 2 of them laughing the rest of the meeting
........ Then my mom told a story about grandpa when he was in the Bishopric and was good friends with the Stake President. Each time the Stake President would come to visit he'd lean over to dad and whisper something funny in his ear and grandpa would have to control his laughter in front of the congregation while the Stake President didn't crack a smile.
.........The funniest story was Harold's. The stake was visiting his ward one Sunday and the president was in one chair, Harold's counselor in the next chair then Harold as Bishop was in the last chair. The counselor was conducting. After conducting he was backing up to his chair holding open a big black book with no hands to push down his chair. Harold immediately reached over to to put the seat down for him. The Stake President on the other side reached over to do the same. Each of them saw the other doing it so they both let go of the chair at the same time thinking the other would hold it down. Just as the chair went back up the counselor sat down only he just kept going since there was no chair to catch him. He looked over at Harold as he was going down like What the heck? Why did you do this to me? That got all of us at the table laughing so hard we were crying and couldn't eat our lunch.
Tanner you're in good company in this family.

So you might be wondering what Shae might be up to now adays. Has she found new hobby or game. Well this picture says it all.

Ok so 7 of my kids moved and that leaves just Lexi and Parks to do all the yardwork and nope they don't complain. Every saturdy rain or shine they're out there. Lex has many rose pricks to prove it.

So what do you do when you are bored? Parker was saying how bored he was and this is what we came up with. Flipping the ping pong paddle back and forth as you hit the ball and counting. At first Parker got 3. By the end it was 169. He won! Who knew that doing this could work up a sweat?

My newest grandbabies

All of you saw Parks pen he made last year. Amazing that he made that by himself with no instruction so we couldn't say no to chicks after all that effort right? But actually I wanted some as well. Friday morning the store got some chicks in so Parker and I dashed to get them and got back minutes before his bus came for school. The first chick pictured is Lex's favorite. It will hatch blue eggs. Cool huh? The other 2 could be roosters. I love silkies (they are pretty yes these chickens are definitely styling chickens) so I'm taking a chance on them. It's 50-50. We'll know in 8 weeks rather or not they might be someone's dinner. Agggh I hope not. We had a black one but while at church it got in its water (which wasn't much) but enough to make him cold and he was dead when we got home. Despite lots of tears he was buried and we learned a hard lesson. Wednesday they will get more chickens in and we will update you with our new additions. They love to be held. Shae loves them and they don't mind her squishing them. We let them out today on the floor and the white one was slipping and sliding. Funny site. Then we put them on the carpet and she was like I'm a free lady. Whoo hoo and was running everywhere and jumping on our laps. The other 2 just wanted to cuddle.

Giving THANKS is the KEY

Does anyone else fill like they have every blessing they could possibly hope for or imagine...good health, perfect kids, nice home, beautiful yard,and feel such joy inside? Then in creeps the deceiver telling us we have nothing and in just a second we become ungrateful thinking of all we lack. Maybe some great talent someone else has. On top of that I sometimes lack the faith in myself that God can bless my ordinariness with greatness.

Then voila I was reading in John 6 and heard some comments from a BYU professor and learned (again) things I knew and needed to be reminded of. When Jesus fed the 5,000 (actually it was much more than that since that's just the men) from 5 loaves and 2 fishes. He teaches us in those short verses that WHATEVER WE LACK HE HAS,WHATEVER WE NEED HE CAN CREATE. HE CAN TAKE SOMETHING SMALL AND MAKE GREAT. HE GIVES US POWER BEYOND OUR OWN.

Then the next verse is the key to that power when it says Jesus gave THANKS. He gave thanks for something I would complain about not just that there was not enough food for all the people 2 fishes, but 2 small fishes, not just 5 loaves of bread but barley the grain used by poor people.Yet he gave thanks for the little food he had and THEN the miracle occurred.

(The last small observation is the small lad who brought the tiny offering of food. Our service may seem small in our eyes but we never know when just a smile to someone at church, a kind word can change someones life.I know it has mine.)

It's been a tuff day!

We're all smiles but our insides we're ripped apart.

To the son, brother, but mostly goofy little boy we all know best. We will miss you. Our beloved sibling Tanner has left us for the mission field. He will be serving where the Lord wants him to in the Cleveland, Ohio mission. I know how much we will all miss his easy going smile, silly nature, compassion, and strong presence. Most of all his glorious cup will miss Tanner's sweet lips that used to gently press against the top of his rim. A finer pair of lips has never graced said cup before. Our prayers will be with you till we meet again Elder Hansen.

HURRAH FOR ISRAEL! HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!

He had to get one last smooch in before he left for the mission. Now we all know where his love really resides. I hope it was a good one.

These next two posts are pictures from the wonderful Christmas break we had. It sure was fun having the wayward Kentuckyians and Texans with us awesome Utahns. We tried to convert them to our ways, but alas they returned home again unabashed. We still love them anyway.

We let a strange man into our house. He insisted he was Prince Daxton and was there for the Princess party. I think he is under disguise.

I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed the princess party.

Bowling was the replacement for snowshoeing as the weather in Utah did not want to cooperate. It still was fun, especially for JD. He scored a game high of 116. Yeah, our family is looking to becoming professional bowlers.

See the basketball right next to the sleeping child's head? That's what Makana used to knock her child out and then cleverly created a sign as if Jaedyn had accidently fallen asleep. Don't worry, I was on to her clever ruse.

We met the lion of the lord. He wasn't able to solve the flat spire mystery, but he did inform us that he was deep down, a fan of the Utes. We attributed this to his human tendencies.

SEWING PROJECTS

Shelby made a cute shirt from 2 tshirts so I had to try it with this pink shirt. Now you have to show your shirt Shelb on your blog. You inspired me to start sewing again.
Ok this was a tshirt that I was sick of and it was ugly and I was going to give it to DI so I cut it down the middle and since it was a long tshirt I was able to cut off the bottom and make a ruffle and small flower and string at the top. Now I like this jacket
This was a plain black tshirt. I added a double ruffle and a big flower and then put 2 pearl buttons in the middle of the ruffle. It looks better in real life just so you know.
This again another ugle tshirt that I cut in the middle then used Parkers old tshirt about the same color to make the ruffle and flowers on the side and necklace.
Last for now another ruffled tshirt like Shelbs with the flowers and then I had an old scarf I sewed and gathered up to make a ruffled scarf. OK thats it but thats what I've been up to so I thought I'd share. Now Kels show all your new crafts you've been doing with your friend.

What Beautiful pictures these are! Mother took pictures of all of us here at home. She couldn't resist our beauty and just had to take some model shots of all of us. Aren't we all soooo cute? First we have our wonderful sister, Shae. What a cutie pie she is! (: Such a sweet heart.

money for a drug deal,( I mean reduced fare to 6 flags It wasn't illegal it was helping us both out)
merry go round, roller coaster, merry go round again and again then off to the water park to cool ourselves down
Jaedyn swirled and twirled,then topsytwervied down, obeying the rules who cares that she might drown
she even learned to go potty but just a minute to late
River rafting made fun as we disobeyed rules, water a gushing we didn't want to get wet.Cassidy moving....moving... moving... all around the tube she thought she'd made it then splash!!! she was right back where she'd started and was totally drenched.

Family: Isn't It About Time?

It was that time of year again. The second week of August brings forth the Madsen Family Reunion. This year we were lucky enough to have the reunion up in Heber at a church owned sight.

When we got there we headed to the ropes course. We didn't get any pictures of it, but we swung on ropes, balanced on wires, and went on a high swing. The swing was admittedly the best part, and although I was a bit chicken at first to go on it since it looked a little high, I braved my fears and swung. The same cannot be said for everyone in our family.

After the rope swing we went to the campsite where the oldest grandkids talked about grandpa. We all loved this part, as it was a great opportunity to reflect on the man that grandpa was. What amazing people grandma and grandpa madsen are.

Later that day we headed to the lake to do some canoeing and paddle boating. The lady in charge of paddle boats told me no teenagers could ride and dejected I started to walk away. Then I rembembered, I'm 20! There's no teen in that. What a wonderful discovery. In the paddle boat I was joined by Cassidy and Mom. Cassidy was against all three of us getting in the same boat since one of us wouldn't get to paddle. Once realization sunk in of the circumstances surrounding that statement, she was quick to volunteer herself for nonpaddling duties. Lazy, smart bum.

Everyone else in the family was in canoes. We witnessed a race in which Parker tried to row so fast he succeeded in getting his parter, Tanner, thoroughly soaked. Somebody should probably teach him how to row. Until then you've been warned to not get in the canoe with him. After we played some horseshoes and Brandon showed us all why he is the king of horseshoes, destroying all competition.

We had a fun-filled day with all the family and after bidding fond goodbyes we were on our way, squishing four people in the backseat. I volunteered to drive both ways so I successfully avoided that. While driving down the twisty mountain we discovered Brandon and Shelby were in front of us. Being the strange people they are they thought if they stuck their arms out the window, their car would take flight. Sad to say they failed. But we all rewarded them with their efforts by stopping at Granny's for some shakes. Boy was the place little, and packed. A sure sign of.. something I'm sure. We opted to eat outside to avoid the crowds. Mom investigated the house for us and provided a thorough description of the condition of the bathroom. Suffice it to say, I don't believe the workers there are properly trained in cleaning bathrooms.

And one amusing story before I go, to tide you over till the next time someone posts. I came home from Vegas two Sundays ago and was a bit out of it (Shelby can confirm to that). While grabbing a snack I saw a small mound of bubbles forming under the dishwasher. I chose to ignore it. After all, I had nothing to do with it and I was tired, plus I figured the solution would resolve itself. However, on returning for another snack (I was a bit naseous from the bus and airplane ride ok) I discovered the mounds were becoming bigger. This time I dutifully sounded the alarm by telling mom there were bubbles. She didn't believe me at first, but finally came to see for herself. We turned off the dishwasher and decided Tanner must be the culprit. Tanner came upstairs and pointed out what he had put in the dishwasher, which was the liquid dishwashing soap, not dishwasher soap. Because of that our dishwasher was now full of bubbles and Tanner was the lucky one who got to clean it out. We tried to muffle our laughter for Tanner's pride's sake, but sometimes it would escape and we'd get bubbles to the face for our carelessness. Some people are just so touchy.

Oh Say Can you See

This fourth of July was rocking. We made our way to Pepperwood to get free breakfast. What a breakfast it was. Donuts, sausage, and bacon, all a fat baby could want. Some of us opted out of breakfast and instead took four capri suns to drink. I'm pretty sure that's what we were supposed to do.

Others that risked the breakfast felt it was necessary to exercise by playing tennis. And play we did, for TWO hours. If you weren't aware tennis apparently is the "it" thing in our family now thanks to Lexi and PK. Everyone had a fun time playing and Daniel and Tanner were caught in a fierce two hour battle. Little side joke that I feel is appropriate at this time.
Dad: Lexi likes tennis so much she was watching Wimbledon when I left this morning.
Cass: Who is Wimbledon?
Tanner: Did she just?
Me: Yes
If you don't get this joke, like a surprising amount of people (including Lexi), ask the next person you see what the Wimbledon is.. not who.

See this bench? Yeah this is where I resided for most of the two hours. But don't worry I did teach the young ones a thing or two about how to hold a racket correctly.

After enduring, I mean enjoying, tennis we got to play sand volleyball! My team won all three times. Less you begin to think that it was because of me we won I'll let you in on a secret. Parker was on my team. We all know there is no way anyone can lose with him on your team. Try it. I dare you. Daniel wanted vengeance, but every demanded rematch his team would lose. Just swap your little wifey for PK, Daniel and you'll be good to go.

TRADITION!

On Monday we had fun blowing up fireworks. Parker put army men on all the rockets to see what would happen when they were lit, while I was a mature twenty year old and threw snaps at Tanner's head, laughing in delight each time one exploded, and Lexi danced around in smoke coming from the smoke bombs. Keep in mind when looking at these pictures, we get weird when fire is involved.

In other news, TDF has begun, meaning dad is glued to the TV for the next three weeks. If you don't know what the acronym TDF stands for, don't worry you weren't the only one. I'll give you a hint. It occurs once a year and involves bikes. Speaking of obsessions, mom believes that Glenn Beck is her secret boyfriend. In more meaningful news Lexi was really brave this past week and gave her friend, Jordan, a Book of Mormon with her testimony written inside. She is a great example to the rest of us. Hopefully we can all take the challenge to preach the gospel. You'll have to call her and have her tell you what she wrote.

Well to start off the Summer we got a 2 week pass to Lifetime Fitness. Mom tried very hard to get us to go every day. The first step was Rock Climbing. Wahoo!! Yay for Rock Climbing! Parker was the champ at it. I think he creamed each of us. He even got to do the rope one too. We would race each other over and over again, until our arms ached.

Next was Raquetball. Gotta admit, really exciting and fun sport! And we even got an action shot of Parker about to hit Tanner smack on. Ouch. Mom was the best at it, and killed everyone that tried to play her. She was a monster! Well, now we're all sad, because are pass has ended. Now what are we going to do?

Graduation and birthdays, June sure is the best month

Let's be honest with each other for just a second. If you had to choose your favorite month it'd be June right? Of course right. Who doesn't like the letting out of school and the beginning of summer? Not to mention all the other exciting things that happen. To start out this fantastic month of June Tanner graduated! (Feel free at this point to breath a sigh of relief you've been waiting to breath for three years). His principal made us regret ever thinking about even going to the ceremony, as he bored us with his speech for forty-five minutes. However, it was a great ceremony and Tanner, being the SBO he is, got to sit up front and look important. Because of that his name was read last, so poor Shelby and Brandon sat through all the speakers but had to leave before Tanner's name was read. After the ceremony we rewarded ourselves for surviving by heading to Brickoven to eat some tasty pizza. Here Tanner is looking quite dignified in his cap and gown.

After Tanner's graduation the next big event was my (Kelsi's) Birthday. Sadly, it was on a Fast Sunday, but boy was it still a fun day. The married ones were kind enough to come home and share my special day with me. On Saturday night to celebrate we all gathered around to watch the original Winnie the Pooh. If you are a Hansen and still haven't seen it, we can change that. Unless of course your name is Makana and you hate happiness, I mean Pooh. My birthday was a fantastic day overall filled with family and longings to eat. We also had Tanner's scavenger hunt. Lucky boy found money in a hollow turtle. Who would've thought.

Then six days later came JD's blessed day. We weren't there to celebrate it but I'm sure it was just as wonderful. A happy June birthday to you JD. You're awesome and that's why your birthday is in June. Hopefully the newest addition to the family will come in June to add one more reason that June is the best. Peace out from So Jo, the most righteous city in the world.

For Memorial Day we decided that we hadn't gone hiking for quite some time and being the adventurous family that we are we decided that it would be a great activity. So we toted all us up there, ninth month pregnant woman included. Despite her protests that she would birth her baby while hiking, Shelby was a good sport and beat everyone up and down the mountain. We all looked like fools. The place we hiked at was the same place we went to everytime when we were little. Everything was the same, except for the millions of bikers there that would run us off the trail every second. Darn people who think they have to exercise all the time. We ate lunch by the river for traditions sake, and Tanner pushed Brandon into the river. We'll miss him. Afterwards we came home and had a barbeque.

Cassidy's wonderful surprise party for her birthday! How fun! We went over to Daniel's to surprise her and came back here and ate cake and ice cream!

Here we are right after a Easter Egg Hunt, with all the candy we found! YUM! We love candy! But most of all we love going to find it all in the back yard!

Then here we are at Grandma's house for the Sunday session of General Conference. Everyone came down and we ate lunch and watched General Conference. We had lots of fun. But look at Daniel's big foot in the way!

Here we are on April Fools day. Of course, mom is the little prankster and I'm sure she got everyone in the entire family. Well, to start the day off she makes cardboard pancakes that Parker and Tanner fell for. Then everyone fell for the salt on the toothbrushes, except Lexi because I was gone. (: HA! Then in the toilet it read, "You soon will be flushed with cash." No one wanted to go potty. So Tanner flushed all the toilets before so he'd know it'd be safe to go. Then realized it was a nice joke and that there was money in the toilet paper. At dinner, surprisingly there wasn't anything disgusting. It was actually good! But April Fools day as we all know is probably mom's most favorite day of the year!

Having a blast bowling!!! We love to bowl!! Tanner got first, 2nd: Parker, 3rd: mom, and last, the best of all the game was Lexi! Wahoo!! Go team Hansen!! We did awesome!!

I know that many of you have wondered, "Where have the Kentucky Hansen's gone?" "Are they even alive?" "Do they like chicken nuggets?" Well the answer is yes, yes and definitely yes! Well McCall still hasn't popped so we had to entertain ourselves with other endeavors such as moving apartments, building snow people, eating the world's largest cake, leaning on piano benches, and partying it up at adult stake Valentine's dances where we were the only ones dancing to the fast songs (but there's some pretty groovy elderly mojo going on). For those of you away we thought we'd show you the progress being made on our house. The first thing done was the waterfall/pond. The pics don't give it its due justice. It's totally amazing! So glad to have that gray rock gone. We even have a bridge. Then we got rid of the cover on the porch and can see the mountains. Then we needed some light in the back and we got a door and 2 windows by moving our cabinet to the dining room side. Then the box over the cupbaords came down and box light. All the sanding and mudding made our house all smokey. We still can't get rid of the dust. It hasn't been fun washing every part of the kitchen 5 times a day. Now we're onto the patio. Doesn't it look amazing. We look like millionaires. Ha! They'll be more pics to come.

We love to play with them. We love to have them tell our story. And they, in turn, cause squeals of delight from a certain toddler we all know and love.

A HUGE thank you to our sweet, thoughtful, and most talented McCall and JD for the time, effort, money, thought, and love that went into the second most important couple to walk this beautiful earth. (for real. And I mean Adam and Eve as the first, not McKay and Makana, just to clarify).

Did I mention this is hand sewn? yep. every. single. stitch.

Celebrating Tanner's and Brandon's birthday! YIPPEE!!!

These are our gifts from our persons at Christmas. How fun, don't we just love Christmas?
Parker got new pjs a funny story about himself and a wooden spoon from Tanner. The story was funny but also made us tear up.

Parker was his usual self and made lots of gifts. The awesome chess table game, 2 missionary journals, a beanbag toss, a tailgate wagon of food. The food is almost gone in the pic.

Lexi got some cool shoes Kels painted herself, a journal, a t-shirt with Lexis face on it and 3 bows.All made by Kels(except the journal)

Cassidy is wearing the dress from the belbys and holding a purse they made and wearing a necklace they made.

Kelsis pic which will be up in a few days is a pic Cas painted from a picture kels took while in Russia. Then she enlarged 2 pics kels took and framed them.

Lex made a family night kit in a wooden chest for the belbys similar to what she made for the macs.

Mommy dearest and I all dressed up for Sunday..Being twinners. Mom looks Gorgeous
Shelby and Brandon slaved and slaved this semester for their ward Play. The whole Family (except tanny) got to go and see the Spectacular Performance. They put so much work into the whole thing and it turned out amazing. Brandon was Joesph and he did a phenomenal job. Shelbs corregraphed all the dances and was even some of them She was (as Brandon would say) the HOTTEST one out there! We were so proud of them both and had a wonderful time watching the show.
SHelby had a cute GO GO dance (retro style) and i tried taking some pics of it but they all turned out blurry. I'm sorry.

This was awhile ago when we went to go visit Grandma on Sunday. It was a fun get together and oh how we love Grandma. We even got to talk to Mckay, Makana and Jaedyn for a bit. and even Jd and McCall.

Recently, (as in Sunday), we had to change Jaedyn's crib for a pink toddler one like the one below. It is a bear and lovely.. and I am realizing I put the feet on the wrong way. She is 15 months old on the 12th and can climb out of her crib. But not anymore! Mwwwaaahahahaha!!

The best part is that now she really can put herself to bed and when she wakes up she just plays and i think it is a great way to start the morning. I wish we could be kids forever and just start the morning playing with blocks and shapes and finding satisfaction in plastic play food.

This weekend though I realized we really have a full-fledged toddler. We still think of her as out little 6 month old. I wanted to get a picture of her. Just one. Here are my results. Tell me what you think.

Early Saturday morning we got bundled up to go out in the cold and feed the homeless families an early Thanksgiving breakfast. We got to the place at 7:30 and they were still airing it out from all the single men that had just left to go downtown. They told us there were 3 times as many families this year than usual. Alot of the children needed help caring their hot chocolate, orange juice and plate of pancakes and ham to their room. We got to help them carry the food and as a result got a look at the room where they all stay together. It was so sad to see bed after bed packed into one large room with barely enough room to walk around. Each family only gets one bed for the entire family.The children were just darling and my heart just broke for them but they were so polite and kind. It was good experience for all of us. I came home and washed up 3 nice comforters I'd promised a man and his 2 sons. He was so grateful.

"McCall is actually showing..." These are the words we hear oh too much now. McCall always ponders to herself, "I'm actually showing...?" I've been showing for 2 months now. Haha funny McCall.
This is her at a week and a half before 5 months. It seems that everyone but McCall has agreed on the name Maple for our little girl. So... we're working on it still.

I thought I would post a few things that Jaed has done lately. I got a new phone so that is why the texts have stopped... i don't have numbers in it yet. (yes, i know i got the phone months ago and yes, i still have not made time to get the numbers from McKay)

So, here is a professional, bulleted list. Because we all are aware of how professional I am at all times (yes, that is a tad on the side of a fib)

-Goes up all three flights of stairs.. by herself (she does everything by herself. Not because I am an out-of-touch-mom, but because she is Miss Independent with a capitol "M-I")
-Knows the sign for diaper, food, pray, dad, (actaully, she made up her own for Dad), and milk.
-Runs when it is time to change a diaper
-Hides in the closet all day long. We stopped cleaning in there now. Its pointless. Yes, there are clothes on the ground a lot in there. Its like a pillow top mattress now
-LOVES LOVES songs.
-Shakes her booty and head bangs
-Can show you her "peiko" (pronounced as pee-kho. Its hole in Hawiian and what the Limary's call one's belly button). She will lift up her shirt, point at her peiko, and make a raspberry. Go ahead and try it. Its really funny do it yourself!

-Climbs on everything (notice the queen of the diaper box mountain above)

-Plays the piano

-Loves shopping and gets compliments ALL DAY by strangers on how pretty she is and blah blah blah... I think it is getting to her head

-She loves to pull out my clothes and put them on her head
-Takes McKay's shoes out of the closet so she can wear them. Funny because I have been trying so hard to get those shoes to stay put and I could not figure out how they were ending up in the living room

-Has a favorite playmate named Madden. See below.

-Favorite shows: VeggieTales and Hi-5. We watch one of each almost every day and we have just three episodes of each. She is all into the music and we dance and play along so it it interactive and fun.

Happy Birthday Jaedyn!

We can't believe that you are one years old- we sure think you are the cutest niece we've ever had and what a sweet, fun thing you are. You have wonderful parents who will be such a great example to you and think you will have the strongest relationship with them. How we miss seeing you and wish that we could spend more time with our little Jaedyn.. but you can blame your parents for that... ha ha. Well we love you and know that your parents spoiled you. A HALF MARATHON!?!

Well we just wanted to let everyone know that Cassidy finished a half marathon and didn't die, but was close too dying. I can't believe Cassidy did a half marathon especially when we were in high school I had to beg her to come running with me... and sometimes she would just end up biking along side of me. But according to her the run was very intense and was mostly uphill and could be compared to running up Timp. Anyway, we wanted to congratulate her and if she has any more information or pictures we would love for her to post! GOOD JOB BUTCH!!!!

Ode to candy apples, the ocean and chickens

Jaedyn and her new swimsuit and her cute bum. She ran for the ocean, and didn't stop. Even when the waves were over her. She thought this was the best thing, getting soaked and not breathing. Strange kid. Whose is she anyhow?

One of many times she sits and lets the little ocean waves wash over. She lets water get her but bring her close to a little dog or a cat its like she is going to melt away. Love the hat.
Oh look! What a good looking momma! This was, obviously, just moments after she had been submerged... yet again. Notice the hair plastered to her forehead and the look of contentment?
Since there has not been a post on here all month.. i thought I would post a few dreams of mine slash things-i-love. If you follow our blog, you have seen some of these already. When we start eating sweets I am SO making these apple bites and what a great idea for gifts. My favs are the vintage tags on the jars.

I think one of these is staring me down.. creepy, and yet oddly cool and awesome.

This week we kid-sat for a family in our ward. It was great and the kids were awesome. We did a lot of fun things such as: Movie night, going to the Children's Museum, playing Super Smash Brothers on the Wii, play dates, making cakes, birthday parties, eating out, reading, walking around the pond, feeding the ducks, riding bikes, Papa Johns Pizza, and playing a LOT in the pool and splash pad.

Jaedyn has become quite the walker and chit-chats all day. She is growing and loves to play with balls, the piano, tupperware, and see how fast she can go up the stairs.
